Friday Five – Sin City Detective
It’s Friday, so it must be time for The Friday Five writing prompt! Five different words each week to get the creative juices flowing. To visit the other participants, click here.
This week’s words are: decay, archive, confine, sock, chalk
Sarah flashed her badge at the officer standing guard at the crime scene, then stepped up to the pile of stinking trash and decaying food littering the ground. There, in front of her was what was left of the missing librarian, her body dumped in pieces in various Trump Tower dumpsters. Poor woman visited Vegas for fun and relaxation and ended up a chalk outline. Sin City was a great place to live and to visit … until it wasn’t.
She imagined having to tell the woman’s husband and children that she was never coming home to them. Telling the rest of the group of archival librarians that their good friend was dead. And not just dead but chopped into bits and thrown away like yesterday’s garbage.
Sarah shook her head once, hard. She needed to keep her thoughts confined to this moment. And in this moment, she vowed to find the person, the monster, who had done this and sock it to him… or her.
wow…. are you sure we want to go to Vegas this year?
Yes, yes you do! And if nothing else, come to Henderson – it was named one of the safest cities in the US last year. 😁
Poor librarian. It can be a tough city, but then, can’t they all?
Also, not for nothing but, I can see the tippy top of Trump Tower from where I’m sitting right now. 😂
