Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge: Creativity Rocks!
It’s time again for the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge hosted by Long and Short Reviews.
Today’s topic is: Creative Outlets I Enjoy
I had to think about this for a minute. Writing is one, obviously, but that feels more like work than play. And I feel as if this topic is more about “play”.
So … gardening would be one.
I swear, weeding is one of my favorite pastimes. It’s an incredibly Zen thing, just sit, pull weeds and think thoughts. It’s also incredibly satisfying. I wish I had the income to create gardens I’d like to create, but supplies ain’t cheap folks. But I can weed. And water. And plant and replant. And enjoy the fruits of my labors.
I used to do scrapbooking, but haven’t in years. I’d love to get back to that someday. I also used to work with a songwriter as his lyricist. That was so incredible … hearing your words in a song has to be one of the most amazing things ever. And I really wish we had a local theater here I could get back to acting with.
For now, though, I’ll have to settle for weeding and planting things. And, honestly, that doesn’t make me unhappy in the least.
Gardens are really beautiful. I think it’s wonderful that you’re a lyricist. Wow!
Gardening sounds so relaxing.
I used to be into scrapbooking, too.
They are very pretty. I’m good at growing weeds and mint. Apparently it’s not hard to grow mint. I had no idea. Weeds, those are great. I grow those well, so I’m envious of anyone who can grow actual flowers. I love it. 🙂
I love gardening and only wished I had a bigger yard. I love that you used to write lyrics though. For me, music and writing has always gone together so it feels like a natural progression.
My post
A weed is a misplaced plant. I used to think as long as it grows it’s fine by me. In a dry climate it’s hard to get anything to grow. Lately I’ve had to rethink this. My back yard was overrun a few years ago by faux lettuce and I had to chop it down just so my dog could find a spot to do her business.
Gardening actually does sound like fun, though I don’t think I have the attention span for it myself. Writing songs, though… I think I’d enjoy that, I’d just need someone to handle the musical side of it.
Bob always says a weed is just a plant you don’t want…. we have spiderwort (lady’s tears) growing all over the yard and it’s so pretty. And, how on earth did I not know you were a lyricist?? Still something new to learn after all these years.
Gardening is a great one. There is something just about being outside that fills one’s soul, and a full soul is a creative one.
One person’s weeds are another person’s wildflowers. If we could, we’d replace our grass with all wildflowers. As it is, my husband keeps adding more wildflowers every year, and they do tend to spread. Our lawn out back is mostly zoysia grass–that stuff is eternal! And our 4 kids used to trample to death anything else we tried to grow back there. But they’re all grown and moved out, and here we sit watching the zoysia grass gradually lose its brown color to finally turn green.
He does the gardening–I eat the tomatoes! But the squirrels have eaten all of the fruits off the 4 fruit trees he planted in our back yard, since they started bearing fruit. GRR!
