Chair Boogie

I held my breath and waited for Joel to respond, not moving a muscle. I was so tense with the anticipation of his response, an earthquake couldn’t move me from my spot. He took my ID, looked at it, at me, at the ID and back again. He checked the tow slip, and then, after the longest moment of complete silence, he tossed the magnetic tin with my key into the air, caught and said, “Sure.”
Finally! That witch, Petra, wasn’t going to win. I grinned. “Thank you.”
“First, though, I’m going to handle this part.” He spun in his chair and popped that tow slip right into the shredder. Looked like I was going to get my truck back, as well as my pet. A party started inside of me and it was all I could do to not do a little chair boogie in my seat. I finally gave into the urge and wiggled for a few seconds, smiling ear-to-ear. I pumped my hands in air a couple of times with a “whoop, whoop” and then stood up.
He chuckled, and led the way out the door. We headed out to the cruiser quickly, my shorter legs pumping to keep up with him. He stopped at the driver’s side door and handed me the key with a flourish.
