Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge: The Great Outdoors!

It’s time again for the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge hosted by Long and Short Reviews.
Today’s topic is: Favorite Outdoor/Nature Activities
I love the outdoors. Provided I have nearby indoor plumbing…
For those of you who don’t know me, I had several years of time as a tween where we lived “off the land” with no electricity, phone or running water. It was very Little House on the Prairie… but because of this, my top priority EVER is a flushing toilet. Seriously.
Years ago, my husband was looking for a little camp away from it all, and asked what I wanted. I said, a toilet that flushes and electricity, otherwise I don’t care. When we wired our house for a generator because we lose power all the time in the winter here, he asked my priorities. I said, a toilet that flushes and my coffee pot (in that order).
That was a whole lot of backstory that you probably cared not one whit about, but there you go… and, while I might never want to go camping or hike the Appalachian Trail, I do love being outside. That’s probably a throwback to my childhood when I basically lived outside.
So, we did get our camp, and there these amazing hiking trails around it that I walk constantly when we’re there. I love them. The area is lovely and peaceful.

At home, I garden a lot. Or just sit outside and weed (all you weed defenders from last week will have to deal with it, lol, weeding it my happy place).

And, currently we have land behind us that’s undeveloped (has been for 22 years, but that’s all changing this summer, sadly), so we can even hike there in the winter:

And, of course, taking the boat out in the summer…

Honestly, though, even if all I could do was sit on my front steps and enjoy the fresh air, that would be fine with me.

  1. You had such an interesting childhood! I don’t blame you one bit for always wanting a proper flushing toilet as an adult. 🙂
