Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge: Book Covers I Love and Why

It’s time again for the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge hosted by Long and Short Reviews.
Today’s topic is: Book Covers I Love and Why
I admit it… I’m a cover whore. Seriously. I’ll buy books JUST for a cover. Conversely (and I know this isn’t fair, and I’m sorry), there are books I see that sound really interesting, but I hate the covers so much I just can’t buy them.
I don’t know why certain covers “speak” to me, but here are some I bought largely due to the cover attracting my attention first:
Soulless by Jacinta Maree
This is always the first cover I think of when I think of covers I love. I honestly don’t know what it is about it… the colors? The softness? I can’t put a finger on it, but it’s possibly my favorite cover of all time.

Dead Handsome by Laura Strickland
Most steampunk covers ROCK. Seriously. I love them. But something about THIS cover really stood out for me. This is another book where the cover is what drew me (but the blurb sold me… yes, I own this book).

Have you noticed how amazing Young Adult covers are? I hit up my kid (she has nearly 400 books on her shelves) because whenever I’m book shopping with her, I find myself attracted to so many of the books. The covers are incredible.
Check out these fantasy covers–stunning!

And not only do these covers for The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare ROCK:

But how cool is it that the spines make a picture, too?

What about you? How do you feel about covers, and what are some of your favorites?

  1. I agree with all your choices… and very cool about Cassandra Clare’s spines. I didn’t know that! I’m tempted to buy the series for that reason alone.. lol. My post is here.

  2. I love when there’s a hidden surprise with the books, like the spines making a picture or tilting the pages does. Very cool. I like your choices. πŸ™‚
