Friday Five – Falling in Love

It’s Friday, so it must be time for The Friday Five writing prompt! Five different words each week to get the creative juices flowing. To visit the other participants, click here.

This week’s words are: bank, first-hand, slip, deal, priority

It seemed like a good deal. I mean, my mama always said it’s as easy to fall in love with a rich man as a poor one. So, when the CEO of a huge bank conglomerate asked me out, who was I to say no?

Our first date was amazing. So was the second. And the third. I learned soon enough it was easy to fall in love with a rich man. I was always his first priority, and he made me feel adored. Worshipped. Special. So, when he slipped me some information, first-hand information that he’d gleaned from the finances at the bank, information that would help him (and by extension, me) know what the stocks might just do in the day ahead, it didn’t seem like that big of a deal.

Until now.

Here I was, sitting in a courtroom awaiting sentencing. And he was off in the tropics somewhere sipping on a mai tai, romancing the next idiot who would fall for his easy charm.

I’m dating a poor man next time.
