Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge: Judging a Book by Its Cover

It’s time again for the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge hosted by Long and Short Reviews.
Today’s topic is: Books I Chose Based on the Cover or Title
I have to change this slightly, because I’ve never bought a book SOLELY on the cover.. but I have had covers make me pick a book up (or check it out, in the case of an eBook).
The first one I thought of (and actually DID end up buying) was this:

I remember being so impacted by it when we toured this over on Goddess Fish. I couldn’t help myself, and the book itself sounded like something I would love, so I bought it. I’ve read about half, but got distracted by something shiny and stopped. I’ll return to it, though, because I really did like it.
Some things I don’t like? Books with a cover (especially one that is only one color) and no images. Books where the text covers the entire image, especially if it looks like a really neat picture underneath. Books with exceptionally ornate text that ends up making the title hard to read. Books with a cover that doesn’t indicate the genre, or worse, misrepresents it. I have ideas in my head of books that fit all of these categories, but I’m not sharing them because I don’t like throwing shade.
Anyway, back to some more really cool covers that made me take a second look.
I love the covers for this entire series (and I’ve bought all the books — book three is only $0.99 right now, in case you wondered):

Honestly, I can’t really remember any others right now. I absolutely love fantasy novel covers and always pick those up at the bookstore. And lately, most YA stuff (except contemporary) has amazing covers. The fantasy, dystopian, and historical Young Adult largely hits it right out of the park.
