Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge: Most Romantic…
It’s time again for the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge hosted by Long and Short Reviews.
Today’s topic is: Most Romantic Book or Movie ever
This is hard!! Honestly, I am not the most romantic person ever, so my idea of romantic probably isn’t someone else’s…
The first movie that popped into my head was “Cat Ballou”.
Yes, really.
If you’ve never watched it, you should. One of my favorite movies, ever (and if that’s not enough to convince you to watch, Lee Marvin won a best supporting actor Oscar for his role). I tried to find the scene I was thinking about on YouTube, but couldn’t. There’s a part when Cat turns to Clay and says, “I love you. I see all your faults, and I know what you’re like, and I don’t care. I love you anyway.”
I thought that was one of the most perfect declarations of love I’d ever heard.
In other news, I once used the scene where Uncle Jed breaks Clay out to get rid of an obscene caller when I was young (this was before caller ID, *69 or any other ID methods–when we had a phone attached to the wall in the kitchen, and you had to actually pick it up to know who was calling). He says, “Hallelujah Brother, I am here to comfort the sinner and return the stray lamb to the fold…” Apparently, that spooked the guy who’d been calling us for days and days. He never called back.
Next, I’d have to choose “While You Were Sleeping” partly because, while it’s certainly a love story … it’s bigger than that. She falls in love with the entire family and I LOVE this movie. LOVE.
DO NOT WATCH IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE MOVIE BECAUSE *******SPOILERS**********
And lastly, if we’re JUST talking about “love” … One of the only sad movies I’ve watched more than once was “Beaches”. Because THAT is the kind of friendship most of us can only dream about. They had their ups and downs, but when it really mattered, they stuck. And that is perfect love, even if it’s not “romantic”.
Side note: it appears they remade this movie in 2017 … WHY, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND ALL THAT’S HOLY WOULD ANYONE DO THAT????

It has been so long since I’ve seen While You Were Sleeping and I’m not sure Bob ever has. We shall remedy that forthwith. And I agree with you about Beaches. Hands down.
I’d never heard of this film before. I’ll have to watch it sometime!
Some really good choices. Haven’t seen Cat Ballou in a long time. Time to see if it’s available for streaming.
Those were great movies. I don’t have the same idea of romance as everyone else. Like I said on another blog, it’s a good day and romantic when I can kiss DH without the dog watching.
Man, I really need to step up my romantic movie game because I haven’t seen any of these. I really need to though and it’s the perfect time to do so with covid and valentines joining hands this month, lol.
I haven’t seen Cat Ballou but the other to were great “love” stories 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

I love these choices, and that you took love on its all its forms. Great post.
Good choices. Beaches is a tear jerker for me. But such a love story of a different kind. Thanks for sharing. Here’s mine. https://www.tenastetler.com/most-romantic-book-or-movie-ever-lsrs-weekly-blog-challenge/
I love Lee Marvin movies, but I’ve never seen Cat Ballou. Now I will have to! LOL about how you handled the caller!
